Types of Fluid Connections

 Fluid connectors are devices that allow a person to change the flow of liquid from one system to another with a simple twist of a valve. These fittings, also known as oil accumulators or oil seals, play a vital role in a number of different industries. From automotive to plumbing to aerospace, the variety of applications of these devices is limited only by the imagination. There are a wide variety of fluid couplings available, including:


Oil Couplings are devices that hold an oil and gas mix together. These fittings are used in the same way that rubber or plastic seals are used. The two components need to be attached to each other using a wrench, clamps, or other type of fastening device. This is often seen in aircraft engines where solid fuel oil is used instead of liquid lubrication.


Fluid isolators are also commonly used in applications requiring pressure isolation. In this application, the isolation is created by changing the liquid output of an engine without changing the pressure of the existing fluid. In many cases, an oil filter might also be used to accomplish the task. Some fluid isolators are pneumatic, meaning that they function through air compression. Fluid isolators can either be single-ended or double-ended, depending on their application.

Oil Distributors usually attaches a fluid collection tank and an oil pump or compressor. These devices force oils into a specific area, such as a crankcase or an oil collection container. When a crankcase oil collection container becomes too full, a pressure relief valve automatically shuts off the oil pump or compressor to prevent a catastrophic overflow. In order to allow a depressurization to take place, a drain line needs to open so that excess oil can be removed. When depressurization does occur, special tools and techniques must be used to force the oil through the drains.

Fluid isolators and distribution systems can be made from a variety of different materials, depending on the application needed. In general, however, these parts are made of either metal or plastic and are soldered to an aluminum or steel assembly. These parts are typically used when high-pressure or high-temperature fluids are involved. Some of the most common fluid connectors include metallic connectors, which can be soldered directly to an oil pump assembly, and flexible joints, which are often used in oil distillations.

Fluid isolators play a significant role in various types of industries, including oilfield, marine, chemical, and healthcare applications. These devices are essential in preventing oil from spilling into water or other liquids. Their primary job is to prevent the separation of oil from the liquid.
