Hydraulic Components

Hydraulic components are the fundamental elements of hydraulic machine equipment, classified into four main groups: hydraulic pumps, hydraulic control valves, hydraulic actuators and hydraulic fittings. This article mainly presents the features and classification of hydraulic components in hydraulic systems. The classification is based on the working principle, type of use, and design of hydraulic parts. The working principle of the hydraulic pump involves displacement of a fluid from a lower region to a higher one, and vice versa; this feature acts as its basic working principle in hydraulic systems. The other features of hydraulic parts include functionality, efficiency, reliability, durability, and availability.

In the category of hydraulic components, the ones most commonly used are hydraulic pump, hydraulic circuit breakers, hydraulic control valve, hydraulic actuator, hydraulic control springs, and hydraulic brake booster. The remaining parts of a hydraulic circuit are not required for working effectively, hence they are disregarded. This category refers to parts that can be replaced with new ones once they become ineffective or worn out due to various reasons such as excessive heat, pressure, water level change, and many more. As for the other categories, the functions of each part are described below.

The first type of hydraulic components is the pressure relief valve (PRV), which is used in hydraulic systems to lower the pressure at preset intervals. There are several types of PRVs, and among them the high pressure relief valve (HPRV) is more commonly used. The HPRV is provided with a key and a lock in order to block undesired flow. There is also an automatic pressure relief valve (ASVR) which acts similarly to the HPRV but is capable of regulating pressure automatically. These two types of PRVs are very commonly installed in residential and commercial hydraulic systems.
