What Are Oil Accumulators?

 Oil accumulators, also called Moroso accumulators, prevent the intermittent loss of oil pressure that occurs during hard acceleration, cornering, and braking. The accumulator forces a reserve oil of 1.5 quarts into the main galleries, where it is tapped into the engine's fueling system. The reserve-oil-pressure-induced pressure forces oil into the holder, which is then tapped into the engine's lubrication system.

In a car, oil accumulators collect oil and store it under pressure. When the internal pressure of the car's oil falls, the accumulator releases the stored oil.
